The short and sweet version is, there are three major commerce here in Jasper, Parks Canada, CN Rail, and Tourism.
Parks Canada maintains the National park, they also run the 911 centre that spans across the Canadian National Parks. The warden's primary function here in the park is to enforce the National Parks mission statement. They also aide in the rescue missions if such occasions arises. CN RAIL main function is to transport cargo through this corridor. Jasper is a rest stop for many engineers. Via Rail (passenger transport) also leases this track to service their traveling clientele.
Tourism is the heartbeat of Jasper, summer is the major part of the year that the tourists are patronizing this town. With all the hotels and motels and approved accommodations and restaurants, Jasper employs quite a number of workers to attain this. The local outfitters are the heart of Jasper, where you can find nature walks to heart pumping adventure.
