Hi every­one,

We are look­ing to run two sum­mer pro­grams this sum­mer at Jasper Well­ness with the pos­si­bil­i­ty of exten­sion. They are Shaolin Kung Fu (Teen/Adult) and Shaolin Kung Fu — Fam­i­ly Fit. The details are below.

Shaolin Kung Fu Teen/Adult (14+):

Descrip­tion: Shaolin Kung Fu is a com­pre­hen­sive and dynam­ic sys­tem of mar­tial arts that uti­lizes flu­id, swift and pow­er­ful move­ments. Class­es will be aer­o­bic in nature, and include a vari­ety of drills that will improve bal­ance, speed, coor­di­na­tion, strength and flex­i­bil­i­ty. Stu­dents will learn dif­fer­ent stances, stretch­es, kicks, forms and a vari­ety of move­ments to har­mo­nize the body, breath and mind.

Term: 6 weeks pilot pro­gram start­ing July 15th — August 26th (no class Aug 5th)
Days/Times: Sat­ur­days @ 1:00pm — 2:30pm

Kung Fu Fam­i­ly Fit 

Descrip­tion: What a great way to get fit with you chil­dren! This pro­gram is designed specif­i­cal­ly for par­ents who have chil­dren between the ages of 5 — 13 years of age and are look­ing for an excit­ing new way to bond and stay active with their chil­dren; all while prac­tic­ing the tra­di­tion­al Shaolin art form togeth­er. Mature chil­dren aged 10–13 years may come to this class unac­com­pa­nied by an adult.

Prenatal Yoga, Yoga for Two

Pre­na­tal Yoga, Yoga for Two is a pre­na­tal class focused on birth
prepa­ra­tion.

Pre­na­tal Yoga is the nur­tur­ing activ­i­ty under­tak­en when time is spent (a
lit­tle or a lot) to gen­tly relax, release and attune to your body and your
rapid­ly grow­ing baby with­in. The nat­ur­al, vital and restora­tive ener­gies of
the body and mind are enhanced through gen­tle yoga pos­tures.

When preg­nant, one feels the strains of the ever-changing body. Yoga
coun­ter­bal­ances the grow­ing abdomen and main­tains good pos­ture. Stretch­ing
while strength­en­ing helps to release the pelvic open­ing in prepa­ra­tion for
birth. Ton­ing the pelvic floor allows for a more con­trolled birthing,
lessens com­pli­ca­tions and enhances post­na­tal heal­ing.

Breath work is prac­ticed in prepa­ra­tion for respond­ing to labour by
coor­di­nat­ing with the rhythms of con­trac­tions. Breath­ing aware­ness is
essen­tial for relax­ation, com­fort and con­fi­dence. Just being in your body
that is home for two is yoga. Your preg­nant body is nat­u­ral­ly and
mirac­u­lous­ly in a state of enhanced ener­gy and cre­ativ­i­ty. Tak­ing time to
pause from the stream of day-to-day activ­i­ty to con­nect with your body
enables you to expe­ri­ence and enjoy these aug­ment­ed sens­es.

All women expe­ri­ence some fear of labour. A sim­ple foun­da­tion in yoga
pre­pares you to face child­birth with courage. To be relaxed and con­fi­dent
dur­ing labour reduces fear, ten­sion and fatigue. Flex­i­bil­i­ty and calm ease
the birthing process, thus reduc­ing pain and increas­ing the joy of giv­ing
birth.

While prac­tic­ing yoga, your rela­tion­ship with your baby
deepens–physically, men­tal­ly and spir­i­tu­al­ly. It is a time to be mind­ful
that you are engaged in the cre­ation of new life, and to be atten­tive to
the impact of this major life pas­sage. Tak­ing time in this way allows the
quick­ly pass­ing nine months to be cher­ished.

Each class ends with a dis­cus­sion with top­ics such as, decreas­ing stress­es
in preg­nan­cy, induc­tion (nat­ur­al meth­ods, risks of med­ical induc­tion,
acupunc­ture), birth sup­port peo­ple & more.

Sunday Evening Yin

Long holds in YIN pos­tures allow a greater open­ing through the struc­ture of
the bod­ies facial sys­tem, joints and mus­cles. All abil­i­ties wel­come.
