Take a two day workshop in voice and physical expression!

In two days Jane will walk students through a musical repertoire that will expose them to simple choral arrangements of current popular songs while the vocal techniques that they will learn will blend classical and popular styles of singing.
She will bring some choral arrangements of her own to work with the group while having them design a work of their own over the two days.
She also brings elements of movement and physical expression into the work so this workshop will appeal to anyone who is interested in theatre as well.

“What I really love doing is building confidence in singers and getting them to express themselves in ways, and pertaining to topics, that they find important. I love the challenge of working with individuals of varying skill and knowledge levels and when they create music I get them to develop abstract scores so there really is no need for knowledge of music notation or singing experience.”

WHAT IS ART BATTLE?
Art Battle® is live competitive painting. Painters create the best work they can in 20 minutes. As they work, patrons move around the easels, closely watching the creative process. The medium is acrylic paint and the tools allowed are brushes, palette knives or any non-mechanical implements. At the end of the round, the audience votes democratically for their favourite painting and bids in silent auction to take the work home. Check artbattle.com for local listings!

Fall Program – 200 Hour Abhaya Yoga Teacher Training Jasper @ Jasper Wellness
Sep 20 @ 7:00 am – Sep 20 @ 6:30 pm

Abhaya 200 Hour Interdisciplinary Yoga Teacher Training:

Yoga is a continually evolving practice, as we combine practice with intention and our everyday life, we can find a harmonious balance of yoga on and off of the mat.

What was once presented as the do’s and don’t of yoga may not translate to the world we live in today.

Over the years we have learned from many traditional gurus, and have seen yoga become mainstream.

There are a multitude of practices and modalities associated with the word yoga therefore we will study Eastern & Western traditions of body, mind and spiritual practice.

This teacher training will take a non-authoritative approach to teaching yoga so that the practitioner can evolve and develop his or her own style and approach to the practice, being able to speak from one’s own experience.

Our hope is that you will be able to experiment during this training to discover who you are at the core of your being, and use this to influence your own personal practice and growth, or pass on knowledge and passion as a yoga instructor.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Join Jasper locals Marla Pollock, Steph Sophocleous & Jenna McGrath plus guest teachers as they take you on a journey of self exploration and discovery.

This training will give you broad knowledge, and a solid base to begin your personal or professional yogic journey. This training will leave you with your 200 Hour Yoga Teaching Certification that you may use to certify with the Yoga Alliance. Our program is fully accredited by the Yoga Alliance.

Truth and Beauty is the fourth volume in Lisa Christensen’s highly acclaimed Hiker’s Guide to Art of the Canadian Rockies series, which “takes the art off the wall and presents it in the context of the magnificent locations that inspired its creation.”

Walter J. Phillips was born in Lincolnshire, England, and immigrated to Canada in 1913 at the age of 29, after spending considerable time studying abroad in South Africa and Paris. Today, he is considered one of the most accomplished watercolourist artists Canada has ever produced. In 1941, he became resident artist at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and played a vital role in the development of that institution’s visual arts program.
Phillips’ career spanned from the early 1900s through the late 1950s, when the increasing frailty of his eyesight caused him to stop painting. Phillips’ work has been widely exhibited throughout North American and Great Britain. His topics ranged from the Canadian prairies to the Rocky Mountains.

“The work of Walter J. Phillips embodies local landscapes and human activities in those landscapes using a vocabulary forged in Japanese woodcut processes….Through the skillful superimposition of many layers of transparent water colours, he created images of great beauty, subtlety and depth.” – Susan Sax-Willock Willock Sax Gallery
