Back again for Deep Freeze 2019 is the Cool Runnins’ Deep Freezer Races!

That’s right – Teams of 5 race deep freezers on skis across the finish line.

Get your team together and enter online below to race your way to winter glory. Registration closes January 8th, 2019.

Races take place between noon and 2pm on Saturday, January 12th and Sunday, January 13th on 118th Ave between 92nd and 93rd St. in front of the Alberta Avenue Community Centre.

Teams must have exactly 5 members: 3 ‘riders’ inside the freezer and 2 ‘pushers’. The three riders MUST wear their own helmets during the race. **Those who do not have helmets will not race.**

Teams are encouraged to dress up and bring your team spirit!

Arts on the Ave is proud to present the 12th annual Deep Freeze: A Byzantine Winter Festival!

Join us Saturday & Sunday, January 12 & 13, 2019 and embrace the cold northern climate by enjoying artistic panache and authentic cultural and heritage winter games and fun. The festival is family friendly and free to attend.

This year’s theme is Winter Tales. Saturday will be Ukrainian Cultural Day and Sunday will be Francophone Cultural Day – with Indigenous performances all weekend long. Fireworks will be held on Saturday evening and four Festival Stages will feature special world music performances around the clock.

You do not want to miss this amazing weekend!
