Wild ice skating at the Fairmont
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge maintains a skating oval in the winter. If you ever want to skate on frozen lake, this is one of the places to do so. Certain days, the Fairmont sets up a concession stand for hot chocolate.
They have also set up a warming hut equipped with a fireplace and an open firepit near the hut.
Even though the Fairmont clears the oval, natural cracks do form on lakes, so beware of imperfect surface when skating. They also clear hockey rink size areas for hockey.
Limited parking there, so if you can car pool, it will help.
