Northern Lights

Viewing northern lights are possible in Jasper

Having to stay up late to capture these images sometimes becomes a chore, but once you get out there, all that changes. Your mood lifts and awe and wonderment sets the pace. I was humming and hawing in deciding, should I go out into the cold or not? When a friend is thinking the same thing and text you, it becomes a no brainer to head out.

Once you find a desired spot to capture the northern lights, time is no more, but you away have in the back of the mind, how long are these light show going to last? You just have to do your best and hope for the best. Then other issues pop into your mind, is the batteries charged? do I have all the equipment for this? Luckily, the gear is 80% ready to head out the door once you get the red alert from the Aurora Watchers (AuroraWatch.ca). Highly recommended if you want to see these phenomenons.

These images were captured at Patricia Lake & Pyramid Lake at around 230am – 430am. At first the clouds were obscuring most of the action, as the clouds pass, some openings gave some spectacular shows.

Hope you enjoy these pics, I do not plan to head out too often when sleep is at par with the enjoyment of taking these shots.
