Ski-Tour Agnes-Little Shovel-Jeffery
Classic ski tour starting out at Maligne Lake and end up Jeffery Creek
When season closures are open, this classic skitour is the one that will get to you in the mood for backcountry experience. I would rated the one on the intermediate level. Relatively safe for traveling if you stay on the trail.
Give yourselves 6-10 hours to do this trek plus the driving time to the trailhead from Jasper. If you are staying at the Maligne Canyon Hostel, you will shave 15 minutes to the trailhead. Parking is at the last parking lot at Maligne Lake.
There is a backcountry cabin along this route, Shangri-La. This cabin is maintained by Maligne Lake Ski Club. To reserve this cabin, go to their site and put your name in for a lottery. You will have to do it early, as this is a popular cabin.
